YUKIMI KIKUCHI

The Japanese pottery artist.

Born in Nagasaki in 1988.

From my childhood I grew up surrounded by many paintings and movies.

I was interested in the world of light and shadow, and from when I was a teenager,

I was involved in video work with responsibility for lighting.

After that, my interest shifted to the momentary world and I turned to photography.

I became strongly attracted to press photography and worked on my photography, but it took time for me to find my own form of expression, so I explored that for a while traveling for a few years.

In an unexpected turn of events, I happened upon pottery, and from that day,

I has never touched a camera only clay.

I was supposed to be looking for my own form of expression, but without realizing it

I made many objects, and I felt freer and freer.

The thing to be expressed is mainly the “face”, and that became today’s “Potter’s Mask” (or I so-called Toujinmen.)

I held a “Toujinmen” exhibition at Kurakuen galere6c in Nishinomiya in 2017.

At the time of the exhibition, I took the opportunity to shoot Toujinmen with models, and launched my current projects.(OMEN‐PROJECT)
